DESCRIPTION
Ventriloquist Gabbo can only express himself through his dummy, Otto. The more The Great Gabbo depends on Otto, the madder he becomes. Perhaps the first evil-dummy-ventriloquist story ever filmed. Von Stroheim loathed the film and tried to buy it, probably to destroy the prints, but found that the rights had already been purchased by real-life ventriloquist, Edgar Bergen. Based on the story "The Rival Dummy" by Ben Hecht. Von Stroheim co-directed, but is uncredited.
