1928 - This is an excellent western thriller you don’t want to miss. Jack plays a gritty forest ranger that’s engaged to a local gal, played by the stunningly beautiful Clair. A corrupt rancher, whose gang is out to force them off their land at any price though, threatens her and her Dad. They pull off a daring midnight raid and wound the old man, but Jack comes to the rescue in the nick of time. Later, the gang uses an evil, pipe smoking nurse to help kidnap Clair. She’s locked up in a forlorn cabin near which the nurse accidentally starts a forest fire after lighting her corncob pipe. The raging flames will soon engulf her! A bold black stallion comes to her aid though, and Clair reaches through the bars of the cabin window and attaches a rescue note to its mane. The stallion races off in search for Jack. Can Jack get there before she’s burned alive? The forest fire scene is incredible. This ultra-rare western is very good and we highly recommend it. Music score, 16mm.
