DESCRIPTION
Buster Keaton's best feature film based on a thrilling and true locomotive chase behind enemy lines in the Civil War. Buster is rejected by the army because he is more valuble to them in his role as caretaker of the steam locomotive , 'THE GENERAL.' When it is stolen by spies, he gives fevered chase in another locomotive, TEXAS and soon finds himself behind enemy lines where he must not only rescue his beloved train, but also the woman he loves, who was kidnapped as a passenger. Amazing physical comedy, eloquent man v. machine images and sight gags abound in what some consider to be the finest silent comedy ever made.
