DESCRIPTION
A romantic tale of forbidden love and family honor, HANGMAN'S HOUSE is the story of Connaught O'Brien, a young Irish woman faced with the most difficult decision of her life. In love for years with Dermott McDermott, Connaught finally agrees to marry a man her dying father has chosen for her. Unfortunately, her new husband is a disreputable drunkard. Connaught must wait until D'Arcy's violent actions ultimately destroy him before she can be reunited with her true love.
This exciting silent melodrama has the added distinction of an early appearance by John Wayne, who can be seen as a cheering spectator during the film's steeplechase scene. This scene was the inspration for a similar one in Wayne's hit film, THE QUIET MAN.
