DESCRIPTION
A young woman and her family are saved from an Indian attack by a Mormon community, but are forced into a world of bigamy, rape and suicide. The beautiful daughter, Dora, is played by director Leonard's wife, Mae Murray. It is also one of Murray's few surviving films.
This film represents a sincere effort by the director to present a balanced view of "good" versus "evil" in the Mormon community. The film was deemed a fair representation in 1917, but modern-day viewers may be offended by the biased depiction of Mormon Elders and by the misinformation so widely spread about the Mormon movement in general.
