DESCRIPTION
Four short comedies all starring and directed by Charlie Chaplin. - The Vagabond (1916 - Silent) aka 'Gipsy Life' Starring Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Leo White, Lloyd Bacon, Charlotte Mineau, Albert Austin, John Rand, James T. Kelley, Frank J. Coleman. An impoverished violinist rescues a long ago kidnapped girl from gypsies. An artist paints her portrait, and her well to do mother recognizes her and tracks her down. Charlie, believing that she loves the artist, thinks she has run away with him.
- The Fireman (1916 - Silent) Starring Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Lloyd Bacon, Eric Campbell, Leo White, Albert Austin, John Rand, James T. Kelley, Frank J. Coleman, Henry Bergman. A fireman who always does the wrong thing calls out the force to save a house from fire when the Fire Chief and a crooked man have agreed to let a neighboring property burn for the insurance money.
- The Count (1916 - Silent) Starring Charles Chaplin, Eric Campbell, Edna Purviance, Albert Austin, Leota Bryan, Frank J. Coleman, James T. Kelley, Charlotte Mineau, John Rand, Tiny Sandford, Eva Thatcher, Loyal Underwood, Leo White, May White. Charlie is a tailor who burns the pants of The Count. Charlie finds a dinner invitation and decides to go, posing as The Count, since The Count can't go without pants. At the party, Charlie falls for the cook, as do a butler and a policeman, then the real Count shows up, and Charlie must switch identities, quickly.
- Behind The Screen (1916 - Silent) Starring Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell, Albert Austin, John Rand, Leo White, Henry Bergman, Lloyd Bacon, James T. Kelley, Charlotte Mineau, Leota Bryan, Wesley Ruggles, Tom Wood, Frank J. Coleman. Three movies are being shot simultaneously and Charlie is an overworked stage hand/scene shifter. All of the other scene shifters, except Charlie, go on strike. A girl looking for work pretends to be a man and joins with Charlie moving sets. Charlie discovers her that she is a woman and falls in love with her. The foreman thinks they are homosexual.
