Lonesome George,' as he was affectionately called, starred in his own comedy show for six years. Low-key comic George Gobel would usually start out with a monologue, then maybe do a skit with a guest star, then talk about his funny family problems. The show aired from October 2, 1954 to June 5, 1960. The show won several Emmy Awards and a Peabody.
