"Series Synopsis: The Ponderosa Ranch is a thousand square miles of home to the Cartwright Family. It's located near Virginia City, Nevada, site of the Comstock Silver Lode, during and after the Civil War. Times were tough in the wild west, especially on women, we gather, because each of Ben Cartwright's sons was born to a different wife--and none of the mothers is still alive. Wild west adventures are interspersed with lots of personal, moral and relationship problems. BONANZA is of one of the longest-running and best-loved television series ever. Its heroes are the members of the Cartwright clan, owners of the Ponderosa, the largest ranch in Nevada. Patriarchal Ben Cartright (Lorne Greene) and his three sons - serious-minded Adam (Pernell Roberts), cheerfully oafish Hoss (Dan Blocker) and impulsive "Little Joe" (Michael Landon) - are involved in various relationships and adventures that collectively make up the continuing saga of BONANZA. Originally aired September 12, 1959 to January 16, 1973."
