"Series Synopsis: A titled Englishman, and member of the Prince Regent's court, poses as a fop while secretly working to liberate condemned aristocrats from the French reign of terror and get them to safety in England. The opening voice-over tag is a classic: "They seek him here, they seek him there, those Frenchies seek him everywhere. Is he in heaven, is he in hell? That cursed elusive Pimpernel." The censors insisted the original "damned" be changed to "cursed." Based on the novel by Baroness Emmuska Orczy. Originally broadcast 1954 - 1955."
